Hello, my name is Allen Strick and I have been heavily involved in the game of baseball either as a player or a coach for over 30 years. I currently coach the 13U team with Flood City Elite organization in western PA, where we are recognized as one of the top teams in the state of Pennsylvania.
As far back as I can remember the game of baseball has been a huge part of my life. I was born in a Windber, PA. At a young age of 8 my family moved to Glen Burnie, MD where I was introduced to the game of baseball. At the age of 10 I was asked to join the Maryland Orioles travel organization, which was ran by now Phillies scout Dean Albany, with whom I played for until college. During the 1990's we were recognized as the top team in the state of Maryland year in and year out and competed in all of the top tournaments in the country. We won (2) National Championships. In 1994 we won the 14U CABA National championship and I was named the tournament's Gold Glove award for being the best defensive player in the tournament. Then in 1998 we won the Super 7 World Series in East Cobb, GA where I was named tournament MVP.
I continued my baseball journey at Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, MD. Where I was the first freshman in school history to play and start as a freshman at the varsity level. While at St. Joe we were ranked as the one of the top teams in the state for 4 years. During this time, I played with several MLB players including Mark Teixeira and Gavin Floyd. In 2008 I was selected to the Team One National showcase in Tamp, FL and began being recruited and noticed by the top college coaches and MLB scouts in the country. During my junior and senior year at St. Joe I was selected First Team All-District, All-Region, and All-State.
After High School I committed to Old Dominion University on a full athletic scholarship, where I was a 4-year starter at SS and lead the team in batting average as a freshman. While at ODU I played with current MLB MVP Justin Verlander from 2001-2004 where he was selected #1 overall in the 2004 MLB Draft. Then in 2003 during my junior year my life was flipped upside down. My father and mentor suddenly passed away with cancer. At this time, I had a decision to make either keep grinding after my dream or help my family. So after my Senior of college, I decided to move back to my hometown of Windber, PA to help raise my little brother and also to help my mother financially. At this time, I started coaching my brother's local rec teams and then coached the Windber High School team from 2012-2017. At this time, I really found my calling in coaching the game of baseball to young athletes to hone in their physical and mental abilities. I believe that this contributed into my brother receiving a baseball scholarship to Seton Hill University where he graduated with honors and is now a Physician Assistant living in Harrisburg, PA.
Currently as mentioned above I live in Windber, PA and have an amazing family, Cole (18), Dalton (13), and Kimber (9) who are all involved heavily in our area's athletics. Cole (18) has just completed his senior year of High School at Windber and has committed to playing baseball at Mount Alloysius College in Cresson, PA. My youngest son Dalton plays on my 13U Flood City Elite travel team in which I coach and is also involved in Basketball and Football at Windber. My daughter Kimber (9) is also heavily involved in athletics and plays softball and volleyball. And all of this running around and long days at the fields cannot be possible without my amazing wife Melissa Strick.
I am involved now with Area Scouts to pass on my passion and knowledge of the game to help develop players physically and mentally to maximize them to the best of their abilities. As you can see the game of baseball has been a huge part of my life and I look forward to teaching and grooming the next generation of athletes.
